Online Course Details

 

The Diploma of Allied Health qualifications are awarded by AIPC (Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors Pty Ltd, RTO Provider Number 0670).

This Diploma of Allied Health is delivered online.

You can study your diploma full-time, part-time, or at your own pace. Full-time study takes a minimum of 12 months, and part-time study takes a minimum of 18 months.

To obtain entry to this allied health course, you need to demonstrate completion of at least Year 12 (or equivalent) OR a recognised Certificate IV qualification, other formal higher education studies of at least 12 months duration from an accredited higher education provider OR have at least 3 years of post-secondary work experience demonstrating capacity to successfully undertake study at a Diploma level.

Payment Options

  • FEE-HELP is a loan scheme for eligible students to pay their tuition (subject) fees.

  • Pay your subject fees direct to the institute each semester for each subject in which you are enrolled.

  • Split Payments. This means you can pay a portion of your subject fees yourself, and the remaining portion using FEE-HELP (if eligible).

Term 1

ALH01 Introduction to Allied Health

This unit provides an overview of the allied health sector, covering the scope of various allied health professions, fundamental healthcare principles, and the importance of cultural responsiveness. Topics include patient-centred care, health literacy, and inter-professional collaboration.


ALH02 Introduction to Biosciences for Allied Health

This unit covers the fundamental principles of biology essential for allied health. It includes the structure and function of major body systems such as skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, and digestive systems.


Term 2

ALH03 Anatomy & Physiology

This unit provides an in-depth exploration of human anatomy and physiology, focusing on the structure and function of body systems and the pathophysiology of common health conditions.


ALH04 Lifespan Development

This unit examines human development from conception to old age, highlighting physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional changes. It applies developmental psychology concepts to healthcare settings to provide age-appropriate care.


Term 3

ALH05

This unit focuses on developing effective communication skills within the healthcare environment, emphasizing cultural sensitivity, professional documentation, and addressing communication barriers.


ALH06 Law and Ethics in Allied Health

This unit covers legal and ethical dimensions of allied health practice, equipping students with the knowledge to navigate legal frameworks and ethical principles in healthcare.


Term 4

ALH07 Allied Health Skills and Assessment

This unit provides foundational skills for conducting health assessments and monitoring vital signs, focusing on accurate data collection and interpretation.


ALH08 Health Promotion

This unit introduces the principles of health promotion, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of community health initiatives. It covers behaviour change theories and the use of technology in health promotion.
